Yet another negative report against Nintendo’s Wii U is here. A survey conducted by GI.biz to various development teams working on titles for the Wii U has revealed that the platform is not even as powerful as the PS3 or the Xbox 360 which happen to be a generation behind.
While every specification might not be up to the mark, one would expect better graphical performance from a newer console but seems like Nintendo is lacking even in that region.
“It’s not up to the same level as the PS3 or the 360,” said one of the sources. “The graphics are just not as powerful.”
That could have been the personal opinion of just one developer but more seem to think the same.
“It doesn’t produce graphics as well as the PS3 or the 360,” said another source. This one also stated that the console did have it’s plus points here and there but failed when it comes to creating an impression with the primary selling point of the platform which happens to be its ‘revolutionary’ tablet controller.
“The whole thing about the tablet controller is that you only get one of them, and you can only use one and it’s not completely independent,” they said.
“The base console has to be on, and you have to be in range. Other controllers are just Wiimotes, or other Wii controllers. They may change the form factor or looks a bit, but it’s the same controller.”
With Sony and Microsoft‘s next-generation rumors fresh in the air and them being far too impressive compared to the Wii U, Nintendo might once again be on the track to disappointing the hardcore gaming market.
The final form of the Wii U is to be presented at E3 2012 so it would be rather better to wait until then and have a look at the system ourselves. Reports will always be reports.
