The masters of all racer games have packed together some of the most unique, challenging, hip and cool looking content ever on a single game. DiRT 3 is here and in your face. It can churn mud the size of an ocean whirpool and bring tears to the eyes of a rally veteran.
This sequel has improved ten times over its predecessor and brings some of the most exclusive events possible. Rally, Rally Cross, Land Rush in addition to the 21st century sensation – The Gymkhana. Although Codemasters have taken a very serious turn from Rallying to covering the entirety of Off-road racing, Rally fans may be a bit dissapointed for the content they are looking for; is not available any more on the franchise starting DiRT 2. Of course, any one would love to rally in one of the most scenic, beautiful looking backdrops and 4-wheelers ever to feature in a title. They’ve basically taken all off-roading concepts, packaged it neatly and presented it in the most subtly beautiful manner.
The Single Player mode is one of the most intricately structured modes. Titled “DiRT Tour,” the game takes you across the whole geography of racing and allow you to tame some of the sickest automobile beasts known to man. From the ’60s to the new S2000, Mini Coopers to Audi Quattros, the game allows you to get into massive number of cars and still surprise you with more of these offerings. Buggies, Land Cruisers, Imprezas and Evos are all staple food for an off roader and DiRT 3 brings the best platter.
Following deep Americanization of it’s hit predecessor, DiRT 3 also features Ken Block as it’s poster boy bringing more events reminiscent of the X-Games. The game offers 3 modes of difficulty allowing intermediate and hardcore rally fans experience a simulator in addition to the good old arcady casual mode for beginners. Beware, the game doesn’t let you go a “casual rally racer.” Reputation points ensure more racing teams and cars are available at your disposal. Heavily branded events take center stage as impressively challenging AI take your driving to the next level. The game makes you feel like becoming BETTER!
The game also allows flashbacks through which players can rewind back to a period and continue racing. Simply put, this allows you to undo a crash exactly like most other Codemasters franchises.
So what do you do after you’re done racing, taken trophies and scanned the leaderboards? Codemasters brings a very special direct upload to YouTube feature implemented right into the user interface. Upload your replays, crashes or special moments and share it with millions of other racers.
For the more serious rally beasts in you, driving assists, car setup, achievements, cars, courses and special events should keep you more than occupied. DiRT 3 offers one of the best car handling possibilities in a rally racer to date. Each car that was reviewed felt and raced different. Each car on different courses would require you to break efficiently and seek better cornering methods. Weather conditions also change the way the car handles on a course setting. For example, a Ford will always handle differently than a Citroen on different track types, weather conditions and you’ll love the way it works.
Multiplayer innovation on DiRT 3 is simply on the best ever on a racer title. Codemasters also setup a real Gymkhana to publicize the game. The Battersea Power Station is one of those Gymkhanas featured on the multiplayer. And wait.. There’s more. Titled ‘DC Compound,’ Codemasters brings some of the best innovative possibilities to multiplayer. Capture The Flag, a Party Mode where you and your friends save the earth from an Alien invasion, a zombie-themed mode where cars get infected.

Powered by the spectacular EGO 2.0 game engine (also powering the Formula 1 franchise), DiRT 3 is easily one of the biggest and best off-road racer game you’ll ever get to experience in your lifetime.
